BR&E Business Survey
Starting in 1999, the BR&E Committee has conducted a comprehensive survey of Josephine County businesses every three years. Surveys have taken place in 1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008. The next survey will take place in 2011. The summary report of findings from the 2008 survey is under development at this time and will be posted to this website in September.
The 2008 BR&E business survey was completed in March 2008. 78 local businesses were surveyed. The report will be presented at the 10th Annual BR&E Business Awards dinner on Sept. 25, 2008. Copies of the report will be availabe at that time. Reports will be mailed to all of the businesses who participated in the survey. Additional copies will be available on this website and by request.
About the Survey
The Grants Pass/ Josephine County BR&E program uses a survey process modeled after that used and introduced by the University of Minnesota Extension program. It is a volunteer-driven survey that typically involves around 50 professional volunteers selected by the BR&E Committee. Volunteer visitors use a professionally developed standard survey instrument and meet with selected businesses in teams of two over the course of six to eight weeks. Businesses selected to particiate in the survey are chosen at random and upon criteria determined by the Committee. Typically, around 100 businesses are identified to be surveyed in any given round. In 2008, the business survey took place between late January and mid-March.
Our survey was developed and analyzed by Rebecca L. Reid Analytics of Ashland, Oregon. Funding for the survey was derived from several sources over the years: Regional/ Rural Investment Fund, City of Grants Pass, Western Rural Development Center and Josephine County.
